The Best Guacamole Recipe

If you haven’t figured it out yet I love a good sauce or dip to really elevate any meal.

On Instagram I made a real teaching you hot to make tostones (called patacones down here in CR) and yuca cakes, so it was only right that I share one of my favorite dips to load up on those two vehicles…GUACAMOLE. We’re from Texas after all.

Guacamole is versatile because it can take any salad, bowl, taco, nacho, or plain veggie spread to the next level. And it has the power to stand alone at the star starter at any get together! *Thats why we pay extra for it :) I’m also a huge fan of getting healthy fats into your diet and the avocado is an easy one to love.

Enjoy this summer time staple.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe hass avocados

  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped *Or pickled red onions if you have them

  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro, finely chopped

  • Squeeze of 1/2-1* whole lime (or mandarina if you are in CR) *measurements vary depending on how much juice your citrus provides

  • 1/2 teaspoon of smoked paprika

  • Salt to taste, start with 1/2 teaspoon & increase to taste

Optional Ingredients to add:

  • 1/2 cup of tomato, diced

  • 1/2 of a fresh jalapeño, seeds removed and diced

*double the recipe if you are making for a group! This goes quick

Instructions:

Step 1: Finely chop the onion and garlic and add them to a bowl.

Step 2: Squeeze your citrus juice over your onions and garlic and let that sit to marinate and take away some of the punch that these fresh aromatics provide.

Step 3: Cut your avocados in half and remove the seeds. Cut length wise slices and width wise slices, making small squares. Use a fork to remove the squares from the avocado peel, and add to your onions, garlic and citrus.

Step 4: Finely chop your cilantro and add to your mixture.

Step 5: Add your smoked paprika and salt to taste.

Step 6: Mix it all up, making sure everything is incorporated. *Don’t over mix, using the folding method to mix, especially if you prefer chunky guacamole.

Step 7: Grab your favorite chip, veggies, taco, and nachos & enjoy!
